Top 10 Worst States For Earning A Living

BrokeIf earning a living is important to you, stay out of Hawaii. If you want to live the broke lifestyle and enjoy the beaches, then this might be the state for you.

Money-Rates.com just released a study that analyzed the effects of state taxes, the unemployment rate, average wages, and the states cost of living and compared all 50 of the United States. The numbers are pretty rough for Hawaii. They are the worst state by over $7,000 in average money left over to live on while having the highest commodity prices.

The rest of the states on the list are only separated by $2,500 if that is any indicator. Here is the list for your enjoyment.

1. Hawaii: $22,108
2. Maine: $29,159
3. Montana: $29,496
4. California: $29,772
5. Vermont: $29,986
6. Oregon: $30,343
7. Rhode Island: $30,612
8. Mississippi: $30,953
9. West Virginia: 31,357
10.South Carolina: $31,636
