Pope's Mass in DC

I just got back from the Mass. I'm exhausted and dehydrated, but oh so happy I was able to go! I'll post some photos that I took. Two highlights to mention:
  1. Placido Domingo singing Panis Angelicus during Communion, after which he knelt in front of the Holy Father to get a blessing and kiss his ring (the only one of the performers to do so; a lot of people commented on that)
  2. Seeing priests in cassocks and nuns in full habits run across RFK field after the Mass for a chance to shake the pope's hand

Viva il papa!

Prayer Intentions for the Papal Mass

I've got a ticket to the Mass at National's Stadium tomorrow - woohoo!!!!

If anyone has any prayer intentions they'd like me to bring, just let me know and I'll include them on the list I'm bringing with me.

"There is no literacy gap in home-schooled boys and girls"

Whoah

Interesting article on boys vs. girls relating to reading skills. The article quotes a study claiming that schools use teaching methods aimed at girls, not boys. Homeschoolers are more likely to allow kids to read something that interests them, rather than a pre-set curriculum.

Decision 2008

I'm trying to decide who to vote for in the next presidential election, and I'm really torn. My dilemma is that I don't like any of the political parties as a whole, and I vote pro-life. This is how I see the parties as a whole (which doesn't help any!)

Republicans
We promote and support a strong, traditional morality, and we will enact legislation based on that morality just as soon as we are re-elected (because we can't possibly do anything the first time around).

Democrats
If everyone would just do as they're told (by us) then everything would be fine; the world would be a perfect place. Every time one of you messes up, we're going to charge you and everyone else for it, and increase our salaries. Maybe then you'll do what we tell you!

Libertarians
Laws? Who needs laws? Go ahead and do whatever you want - just don't come crying to me when something goes wrong!

Constitution Party
a.k.a. the Horton Hears a Who party. "We are here, we are HERE, WE ARE HERE!"

Decisions, decisions...

Mac vs. PC?

Not anymore, it's now NFP vs. Contraception:

There's a whole series of these on YouTube by the seminarians at the Institute for Priestly Formation in Omaha. One More Soul has a lot more information available on the topics of NFP, abstinence, and contraception.
